Visited the Stift (Monastery) of Klosterneuberg with the lovely Ellen Parrella:
That's a 17th century Baroque Palace on the right, built right next to the monastery. |
Original Gothic era monastery |
Completely refurbished in an elaborate 19th century fashion |
Treasury:
Royal archbishop's crown. Only used for crowning ceremonies. Yet never worn. |
Yes, those are hundreds of hand carved figures on this miniature. |
More 19th century remodeling I fear. |
The Verdun altar: the largest Medieval gold-enamel altar in the world (the second is in Venice in St. Mark's--See my post!) |
Before a fine concert must come a fine dinner.
Sacherwurst. Must be eaten with the hands only, by tradition. |
..and be followed by a fine dessert with friends.
Mohr im hemd. |
