Klosterneuberg

Dienstag, 7 Mai

Visited the Stift (Monastery) of Klosterneuberg with the lovely Ellen Parrella:

That's a 17th century Baroque Palace on the right, built right next to the monastery.

Original Gothic era monastery

Completely refurbished in an elaborate 19th century fashion

Treasury:

Royal archbishop's crown. Only used for crowning ceremonies. Yet never worn.

Yes, those are hundreds of hand carved figures on this miniature.

More 19th century remodeling I fear.

The Verdun altar: the largest Medieval gold-enamel altar in the world (the second is in Venice in St. Mark's--See my post!)

Before a fine concert must come a fine dinner.

Sacherwurst. Must be eaten with the hands only, by tradition.
..and be followed by a fine dessert with friends.
Mohr im hemd.
