Budapest Ball

Samstag, 30 März

Spent most of today in anxious anticipation for my trip to Budapest. I got whiff of an all-night Hungarian dancing ball in Budapest for tonight, and simply had to go. Arrived in Budapest at nightfall just in time for the ball, and then the fun began:

I didn't think I'd ever take such a big bill out of the ATM. The exchange rate to Hungarian fonts (HUF) is really good. This is about $15.
Finally scouted out the place through rainy streets. Inside, this waited for me:

The guy on the right beats that "cello" with the bow stick, creating a nice percussive open P4. The guy on the left played a mean Czardas. All night.

There was so much stomping that dust lingered in the air after each dance. I had thought it humidity from all the wild and crazy dancing going on.

Wild and crazy Hungarian dance soloing! So much crazy footwork and knee slapping.
There was always a new set of violin-ensemble on stage playing some crazy fast Czardas-sounding tune. All night long.

Around midnight, called it quits and walked to the hostel on quiet, rain glistening streets:

Found a "castle," some affluent person's residence. We debated whether this gate actually works. What do YOU think?
