Orientation in Mariazell, Day 2

Freitag, Januar 11

Today we walked to the famous Basilica of Mariazell, which is a well-known Christian pilgrimage point, recently refinished in 2007. Many Austrians walk for miles to pay homage to the miracle-working figurine of the Virgin Mary. The Basilica itself shows both Gothic (arched ceilings) and Baroque (ornamented) characteristics:

The organ. Elaborate, and very Baroque

A silver angel, one of the many donations from local royalty over the years.
