Vienna, Day 6: StaatOper

Samstag, 18 Jänner

Started of the day with a Naschmarkt adventure, where the local flee market appears Saturday. It was packed, and the items exquisite:
I treated myself to a lovely traditional Turkish breakfast at one of the cafes. Not bad for 5,80 Euros!

Then IES provided a bus tour of Vienna. Some of the sights:

Church with a famous Beethoven- deafness story, in the district where Beethoven lived in many of the apartments.

Beautiful Neo-Gothic Cathedral.

Blue Danube ain't lookin' so blue.

Vineyard in winter.

One of man adorable houses.

Vienna University
Summer Palace's Guest House. I wouldn't mind being a guest here!
Anton Bruckner died here.

In this very house.
Then we saw the Kunst House apartments. WILD.

A real live red phone booth!

Gotta love kukoo clocks.
Then I went to see Tchaikovsky's opera Pique Dama, or Queen of Spades, at the State Opera house. I felt like I'd stepped back into the Titanic Era.
