Germany Tour, Day 1: Prague, arrival in Dresden

Samtag, 2 Februar

A good start to a good day....

Left at 8am sharp from Vienna, and about 2 hours later we started seeing signs in Czech. Prague appeared on a distant hilltop, looking perfectly castle like and magical. I found Prague similar to Vienna with its sculptures, but with a more eastern, steepled, almost medieval-castle like flair.

The Astronomical Clock!

The outdoor market had a whole marionette witch section, and they would all cackle and jump around if you clapped loud enough.
They sold beautiful clocks, complete with "Praha," the Czech word for Prague.

I stopped for some Goulash in this hole in the wall place:

This place had a juke box that played everything from Blues to Big Band to Heavy Metal. Sometimes in German or Czech.

Goulash!

Narrow Alley near the Synagogue.
Prague souvenirs: Some lovely new earrings, and some Czech crowns.

After our 2 hour lunch break in Prague, we head off to Dresden, and arrived at an unexpectedly South-of-the-border themed hostel:

Our room is a bit wild. I call it jungle themed.
Then, our entire travel group went out to a classy Italian restaurant called Al Capone, and chat and feasted in a candle-lit cellar. Lovely.

Appetizers. My favorite was the eggplant on the right.

Ham, mushroom, cheese pizza!
Icecream puff on top of an orange, drizzled in dark chocolate. Mmmmmm.
